CONNECTION ISSUES

Connection Help

If you are connecting to Playboy Cyber Club with @Home, or through a firewall or proxy server, and are experiencing trouble connecting or navigating, or find yourself unable to connect, you may be able to solve these problems through your browser settings, or you may have to contact your service provider. Please refer to the following instructions to alleviate your connection woes.

@Home

If you are using the @Home Internet service through your cable television provider, you may have problems logging on and navigating Playboy Cyber Club under the @Home default browser configuration.

If you are having problems accessing Playboy Cyber Club through @Home, you will need to disable the use of the @Home proxy servers. The @Home technical support staff assures us that this will not adversely affect your use of their service. Please refer to our instructions for disabling proxy servers.

Firewall

If you are accessing the Internet through a firewall or a proxy, you should request that your proxy/firewall administrator allow two-way communication on the following HTTP ports:
  • Playboy Cyber Club: 80
  • Registration: 443
  • I/Chat: 4000, 4020, 4067, 4040 and 4080.

Proxies

In order to access Playboy Cyber Club you must not go through a proxy. Instead, you should have a direct connection to the Internet. If you must access Playboy Cyber Club through a proxy, please refer to our instructions for establishing two-way communication to ports.

To disable proxies:

Netscape Navigator 3.x (Mac and PC)

  1. Select "Net Preferences" in the Options menu.
  2. Click the "Proxies" tab in the dialog box.
  3. Select "No proxies."

Netscape Navigator 4.x (Mac and PC)

  1. Select "Preferences" in the Edit menu.
  2. Expand the "Advanced" section of the tree control on the left-hand side of the dialog box.
  3. Select "Proxies."
  4. Select "Direct Connection to the Internet."

Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.02 (PC)

  1. Select "Options" in the View menu.
  2. Click the "Connection" tab in the Options dialog box.
  3. Make certain the "Connect through a proxy server" box is unchecked.

Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 (PC)

  1. Select "Options" in the View menu.
  2. Click the "Connection" tab in the Options dialog box.
  3. Make certain the "Connect through a proxy server" box is unchecked.

The procedure for turning off proxies should be similar for other browsers.
